The annual conference provides industry updates along with quality educational instruction for MBIA members, representing nearly 400 marine businesses in Michigan. Attorney Jeff Sternberg was a featured presenter at the Michigan Boating Industries Association (MBIA) Annual Recreational Boating Education Conference in Lansing, Michigan on December 9 and 10, 2015. The annual conference provides industry updates along with quality educational instruction for MBIA members, representing nearly 400 marine businesses in Michigan. They include boat dealers, marina operators, marine retailers, boat and dock manufacturers, banks, insurance companies, and marine service companies.

Jeff’s presentation covered “Business Succession Planning,” where he explained to MBIA members how transferring a business to the next generation required working through the maze of estate taxes, business law, state regulations, banking issues, and family dynamics.

Also in attendance at the annual conference was attorney Jim Stewart. For more than 25 years, Jim has served as General Counsel to the Michigan Boating Industries Association.

Keynote luncheon speakers included Governor Rick Snyder and Secretary of State Ruth Johnson, both of whom recognized the importance of the boating industry’s impact on Michigan’s economy.
