Van Eck, W. Todd

Profile & Practice Areas

W. Todd Van Eck has represented business owners in a variety of industry sectors over the past 20 years. With his undergraduate degrees in finance, accounting and economics, Todd entered into law and advanced his business focus by obtaining a masters of law (LL.M.) in taxation. His background and extensive experience has resulted in a high-end understanding of the integration between business (acquisition, management, sale and dissolution/bankruptcy) and the law.

Todd works in numerous industry sectors focused primarily on government entities and closely-held entities in real estate, construction, manufacturing, finance and services. He represents clients based on their needs, which can vary from acting as outside general counsel with board attendance to a lower-level, issue-specific need. This includes transactional, litigation and dissolution/bankruptcy counsel. In the transactional side, he works extensively on transaction structure (legal with financial), regulatory issues, taxation issues, contract issues, business models, financing, execution and document preparation. In his litigation practice, Todd regularly represents clients in administrative courts, trial courts and appellate courts (state, federal and bankruptcy). In his dissolution/bankruptcy practice, he focuses on workouts, forbearance, turn-around, dissolution and exit planning. Todd also acts as a court-appointed receiver for those matters where assets are controlled and managed by order of the court.
